PERFORMING ARTS

Credit: Sam Levin

The Compound is committed to supporting experimental music and sound performances from diverse genres through the carefully curated Performing Arts program. Showcasing a breadth of practices from emerging, innovative, and international musicians, we aim to interrupt traditional venue structures and curate meaningful experiences for artists and audiences. With a grassroots approach to cultural production we work to bridge the gap between siloed art and music communities while also creating critical third space in East Baltimore Midway.

FAQ (General)

  • We host all kinds of performance events in our space. Live music spanning all genres, DJ events, plays, showcases, performance art, and more. About half of our events are internally curated, and half stem from external proposals. As a very small non-profit organization we have limited capacity and try to prioritize mission-aligned proposals.

  • Most events have sliding scale tickets available. You can always reach out via email to inquire about opportunities for entry if you are short of funds. Access is always a priority, so we will do our best to work with you.

  • See our Safe Space and Community Guidelines page for more information on our policies for maintaining an inclusive and safe space for all.

  • Any items found at events will be held at our venue space for 3 months. Unclaimed items will be donated. If you lost an item in our space please EMAIL info@compoundinc.org.

FAQ (Booking)

  • As of right now our DMs on Instagram are closed. For event inquiries please email info@compoundinc.org with your detailed event proposal. Keep in mind we are generally limited to 3 shows a month, with some room for exception.

  • The capacity for each of our programmable spaces (exhibition space, venue, and courtyard) is 250 persons per space, or 750 total.

  • Our current payout structure for ticketed events is as follows, from the door ticket sales:

    65% (TALENT)

    35% (COMPOUND)

The Compound takes a 35% cut to contribute to overall expenses for staffing (security / management / accounting / sound engineering), electricity, wifi, building rent, insurance, etc.

Please consider this payout structure when creating proposals.
